In the future, we may add a premium membership, similar to YouTube, with extra features. But everyone will still be able to enjoy conversations on Episoden just as they do now.

So you can count on Episoden being free for life, and always offering a fun and welcoming space to connect with others.

Every user goes through an interview before joining, so you can feel safe while practicing. And speaking regularly is also a great way to prepare for language tests.

Episoden is designed to provide a secure and reliable global space for English conversations. All users register with their real names, and every session is conducted face-to-face, which helps foster trust.

Before taking part, every user must complete a Welcome Session. This process ensures that only those with at least an intermediate level of English and verified basic information can join conversations.

In addition, our team actively monitors the platform 24/7 to maintain both quality and safety. With these measures in place, you can feel assured that Episoden offers a safe and trustworthy environment for meaningful conversations.

What is Prime Membership?

Prime Membership is a special status awarded to the most active and positively rated users on Episoden. Prime members receive unlimited session tickets along with two conversation extensions per session.

This status is not granted simply by attending many sessions. It is reserved for users who participate consistently, earn positive feedback, and engage with their partners in a respectful manner. A high completion rate—without intentional early exits—is also an important factor. In short, Prime Membership is given to those who meet Episoden’s standards for responsible and genuine participation.

With Prime Membership, you can go beyond simple practice—enjoy longer, more meaningful conversations and create lasting connections with partners around the world.

Question 9

I want to talk longer than 7 minutes. How can I do that?

With a Prime Membership, you can use the “Talk Once More” feature. Before your 7-minute session ends, send a “Talk Once More” request to continue your conversation. You can extend up to 2 consecutive sessions with the same partner.

Episoden also hosts a Prime Party every Wednesday, where all users can enjoy Prime Membership benefits for one day. If you’re not a Prime Member yet, try the benefits every Wednesday!

If you’re talking with a Buddy, you can use “Talk Once More” up to 6 times, even without Prime Membership.

What is the Private Lounge?

The Private Lounge is a feature that lets you have a 1:1 conversation with a friend who is not yet an Episoden user. There is no time limit for these conversations.

If your invited friend signs up for Episoden after using the Private Lounge, the two of you will automatically become Buddies. You will also receive a Prime Membership as a reward.

Why are some conversations shorter than 7 minutes?

If your 1:1 conversation is shorter than 7 minutes, it means you were in a Waiting Room conversation, not a regular 7-minute session.

The Waiting Room is a chat space for users waiting for the next session. If you click “Join” in the middle of a 7-minute session, you’ll be placed in the Waiting Room to talk with other users who are also waiting. When the next session begins, you’ll be automatically connected to the full 7-minute conversation.

What is the room where several users talk with one person?

That is the Host Room, where one Episoden host meets with multiple users.

The Host Room comes before the Waiting Room. It’s a space where the Episoden host gives guidance on how to use the service and helps users get ready for their sessions through light conversation.

Is Episoden only for 1:1 conversations? Can I join group chats?

Accepted Answer

For now, conversations on Episoden are only 1:1—both in the 7-minute sessions and in the Waiting Room. The only exception is the Host Room, where several users are present together, but interaction is only with the host.

Currently we only offer 1:1 conversations, but we do plan to add group chat features in the future.

Are the people I talk to tutors or teachers?

No. The people you meet on Episoden are not tutors or teachers, but other users from around the world who also want to practice English. Episoden is a platform for practicing English through real conversations, sharing experiences, and exchanging cultures.

Do I need to complete assignments or readings before joining a session?

Accepted Answer

No. Episoden requires no complicated preparation. You can join anytime without assignments or readings, and start speaking English face-to-face with people from around the world. Focus less on homework and more on real conversations to naturally improve your English skills.

Do I have to use the suggested topics during a conversation?

Accepted Answer

No. You are free to use the suggested questions or have an open conversation. They’re simply there to help the conversation flow if you need them.

Question 17

What should I do if I need to leave during a conversation?

Accepted Answer

For a smooth experience, leaving in the middle of a session is not allowed. Instead, you can use the Reserve an Exit button at the bottom of the screen. This way, you’ll finish your current conversation and then return to the main page without being connected to the next session.

If you really need to leave before the session ends, please let your partner know. At Episoden, we value respect and want every 7-minute conversation to be enjoyable for both sides.

What is the Memo feature? Can my partner see what I write?

With the Memo feature, you can add notes about your partner in the Match History on My Page after a session ends. This helps you remember them next time.

Your partner cannot see your notes. The memo will only appear on your own screen the next time you are matched with that partner.

Can I see the chat after a session ends?

No. Once the session ends, the chat messages cannot be viewed.

I’m a beginner in English speaking. Can I still join Episoden?

Episoden is designed for users with at least an intermediate level of English—enough to handle basic communication and express yourself on everyday topics in 1:1 conversations.

During the Welcome Session at sign-up, if basic communication proves too difficult, access may be restricted. In that case, we recommend practicing a bit more and then trying again once you feel more comfortable.

Do I have to complete the survey after each 7-minute session?

We strongly recommend it. Your survey answers help improve matching by reflecting your English level and whether you’d like to meet a partner again.
Here’s why it matters:
Better matching: Survey responses are considered by both our AI system and user choices. For example, your answer about English level is linked to your Match Settings (“How fluent in English do you expect from your partner?”), which increases the chance of meeting someone at the level you prefer.
Re-matching partners: The “Want to meet him/her again?” question directly affects future matches. Choosing “Yes” makes it more likely you’ll meet them again, while “No, avoid as possible” ensures you won’t be matched with them in sessions or the Waiting Room.
Ticket benefits: Skipping surveys repeatedly may result in fewer ticket rewards.

Can Episoden really help improve my English speaking skills? How can I improve without lessons?

Yes. Episoden helps you learn by using English, not just by studying. If you only study and never speak, it is hard to improve. Many people know the words in their head but cannot say them easily.

With Episoden, you can join 1:1 video conversations with people from around the world every day. This regular practice builds confidence—and confidence is the key to speaking better.

We hear from many users that their English improves quickly when they use Episoden for at least one hour every day.

I was rejected in the Welcome Session. What should I do?

I’m under 16. Can I use Episoden?

Episoden is built to help you meet people from all over the world, so you can’t pick a specific partner to talk to. But if you respond to the surveys carefully and join regularly around the same time, you’ll have a better chance of meeting the same partner again. Many users often reconnect this way.

Also, once you’ve met someone 3 times or more, you can send them a Buddy request. If they become your Buddy, you’ll be able to start a conversation with them anytime they’re online.

Can I choose my matching partner?

No, you can’t pick a specific partner yourself. But after each session, you’ll fill out a short survey, and your answers help our AI match you with partners who are a better fit.

You can also set your preferences in My Page → Match Settings, such as meeting users from the same country, choosing your partner’s English level, or deciding if you’d like to meet new users.

No matter who you’re matched with, please approach every conversation with respect. The feedback your partner gives you also plays a role in your future matches.

Episoden’s AI takes many factors into account to create the best possible matches, giving you the chance to connect 1:1 with people from different backgrounds, nationalities, and English levels.

Can I choose to meet only partners from certain countries or genders?

No. In Episoden, you can’t pick partners by country or gender. The goal is to practice English and enjoy cultural exchange by meeting people from many different backgrounds.

But in your Match Settings, you can adjust things like meeting people from your own country, meeting partners who are more fluent, or being matched with new users.

If I add someone to “Never meet again,” will I never be matched with them?

Yes. Go to My Page → Buddies, then click the three-dot menu in the top right corner of your Buddy’s section. From there, you’ll see the option to unbuddy.

Will my buddy be notified if I unbuddy them?

No. Your buddy won’t be notified, and they won’t know that you’ve unbuddied them. Once you unbuddy, you will no longer be matched with that person in 7-minute sessions, the Waiting Room, or the Host Room.

How can I get more Buddy slots?

Episoden gives you 3 Buddy slots to start with. You can earn more by joining sessions or inviting friends. Active users who get good ratings from their partners may also receive extra Buddy slots as a reward.

What is Talk Together?

In regular sessions, you’re matched randomly with a new partner for 7 minutes each time.

With Talk Together, you can send a request to someone who’s already your Buddy whenever they’re online. If they accept, you’ll be paired with them in the next session. You can also extend the session together—up to 6 times—for a longer and deeper conversation.

What is Tribe 12?

Tribe 12 is a system that groups Episoden users based on their active hours.
          The 24-hour day is divided into 12 Tribes, each Tribe represents a 2-hour time period. 
          When you join Episoden during your Tribe time, you are more likely to be matched with users who are active at the same time as you. 
          This makes it easier to keep conversations going and increases your chances of meeting familiar partners or buddies.

What benefits do I get when I’m assigned to a Tribe?

During your Tribe time, you receive special benefits to help you enjoy more conversations:

2 White Tickets per day: Use Episoden during your Tribe time to receive 2 White Tickets every day.
Longer conversation time: If you meet someone from the same Tribe during your Tribe time, you can talk for up to 15 minutes in a single session.
Benefit for Prime users (1 TOM): If you are a Prime user and meet a Tribe member during your Tribe time, you can use 1 additional TOM

Can I change my Tribe once it’s set?

Yes. You can change your Tribe once a month if the conditions are met.
          If your active hours have changed, you can update your Tribe on My Page when the change period is open.
          If the change option is not available, the button will not appear.
          You can check the next available change time on My Page.

Question 42

I can’t see my Tribe. Is this an error?

Accepted Answer

No, this is not an error. 
          Your Tribe is automatically assigned after you have completed at least 25 random conversation sessions (7 minutes each).
          If you are new to Episoden, your Tribe may not appear yet.
          Once you complete more sessions, your Tribe will be displayed.

I forgot my account password. What should I do?

On the login screen, click “Forgot password” and a temporary password will be sent to the email you used to sign up. The email may take a few minutes to arrive.

Once you log in with the temporary password, you can set a new one by going to My Page → Profile → Profiles & Match settings → Account.

I can’t log in. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

First, make sure you’re using the email you signed up with.

If your password isn’t working, click “Forgot password” to receive a temporary one, log in, and then reset your password.

How can I change my full name, nationality (I was born in), or date of birth?

Can I share my account with a friend?

No. Your Episoden account is for you only and cannot be shared with others. Sharing accounts can affect security and the safe use of our community, so all users need to join with their own account.

Can I create more than one account?

No. Each person can only have one Episoden account. This helps us keep the community safe and trustworthy.

No. To enjoy good conversations, you’ll need to stay in one place. Make sure your screen is steady (put your phone down if you’re on mobile) and join from a quiet spot without background noise. At Episoden, we want every conversation to be a space where participants focus on each other.

Do I have to keep my camera on?

Yes, you need to keep your camera on. Episoden is a 1:1 service where you practice English face-to-face with your partner, so your face should be clearly visible. If your camera is off or your face is hidden, it may disrupt the conversation, and in some cases your access to the service could be restricted.
